Memorial quilts and pillows made
It was then that we decided to have quilts made also. It was something we could do without totally letting go. We have a friend at church who makes beautiful quilts, so we gave her a call. She told us she would be honored to make them. When we went through Savannah's clothing, Arlayne was very patient with us as we cried and reminisced over when she wore this or that. She listened to our requests of what shirts and clothing items meant the most to us. She ended up making t-shirt quilts for Savannah's brothers and a sampler quilt for my husband. She even surprised me by making a rag quilt for myself out of Savannah's jeans. All four quilts are very beautiful and special to our family. Arlayne puts the quilts together and passes them on to a friend at church, named Michelle, who does a wonderful job quilting them.
I will tell you, the first time we saw them it was very emotional. You heart tells you, your loved one should be wearing those clothes. But having her clothes made into quilts has been a "healthy" way of holding onto her. Below you will find pictures of three of the quilts. I will try to get the fourth one on ASAP. The second Christmas after losing Savannah, we had pillows made from Savannah's jackets. Arlayne did a wonderful job on them also. They are made to unzip or unbutton so you can take out the pillow form and wash them.
Below are some pictures. If you or anyone you know is interested in having quilts made, feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
